I still remember it like it was yesterday.
It was the end of a long week at work. I had just wrapped up a whirlwind of meetings, emails, life - when a little notification popped up.
It was a message from someone named Madison. She had stumbled across a few floral bunches I had posted only a couple of days earlier - flower bouquets I’d made for myself and my mother-in-law for Mothers day. With no real plan beyond simply sharing something that brought me and those around me joy - my creative outlet to escape the rush and stresses of everyday life.
Madi wanted to know if I could create something custom for her 30th birthday. I remember feeling a mix of excitement and disbelief. A complete stranger wanted me to create something just for her. It felt surreal.
We messaged back and forth, chatted about her inspiration and her vision. Then it happened - the cha-ching notification. Even now, I still get a little emotional thinking about it.
But what made it truly special was the trust. Madi gave me full creative freedom. She trusted me to interpret her ideas in my own way, to follow my creative instincts, to design something that felt true to her - but also to me. And at a time when I was questioning everything in my own life, that trust cracked something open in me. We connected beyond florals. Both of us mums to young toddlers. Both of us working the 9-5 grind and questioning it all.

29th May 2025 will mark exactly one year since my first order and the start of Studio Kacy. And the name? So many people assume I'm Kacy (which I totally understand!). But choosing Kacy was a nod to my parents, a blend of their names. An homage and a way of remembering them with every piece I create.
A lot has happened in the past year, way beyond what I could ever imagine. Studio Kacy blooms have now travelled to 154 cities, across 11 countries and counting. But one thing will never change, the gratefulness I feel at the honour of creating flowers for life's special moments (which can be so fleeting). Whether it’s for a wedding, a milestone birthday, a gift for a special someone or in memory of a loved one.
To Madi - thank you for being the very first. And to everyone who has trusted me since - Sharleen (my first destination wedding project), Lucy (my first elopement order), Madeleine (my first international order), Kim (my first organic referral, incidentally through Madi), and all of you who’ve let Studio Kacy play a small part in your story - I’m so deeply grateful. Thank you, truly!
